While last year there was a boom in moody dark colours and preppy pinks, this year’s biggest colour trends look set to be dominated by a resurgence of ‘muddied’ colours. Earth shades that evoke the calmness of natural materials will dominate this year’s colour palette.

As our professional decorators at Scott Anson Painters and Decorators Ltd would suggest, there are four top colour trends that are set to be big in 2025:

Mocha Mousse

Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse, and this rich, warming brown hue has the delectable qualities of both chocolate and coffee.

Mocha Mousse is a warm, grounding shade that works perfectly in spaces to try and evoke a sense of comfort, connection and indulgence. It could convert homes into sanctuaries, and its timeless appeal means it can work perfectly in both modern and rustic, traditional settings.

Mocha Mousse pairs well with contrasting creamy whites, natural wood, textured linen and brass finishes.

Muddy Pink

Over the next year, muddy pink is predicted to become very popular in homes. Tones that combine a rich, warm, light brown with an undertone of peachy pink could create the perfect atmosphere to deliver restful, sumptuous spaces.

Muddy Pink tends to pair well with earthy greens and greys as well as rich, dark browns.

Dusty Blue

This muted blue isn’t loud and attention grabbing; it can be used to craft a sophisticated, charming and timeless atmosphere. Dusty Blue will work fantastically in transitional and common spaces such as living rooms, kitchens and hallways.

It can deliver a fresh and traditional elegance that channels a peaceful and soothing environment, pairing well with crisp white lines.

Truffle Brown

Last year browns made a big comeback, and the trend is predicted to continue to be championed in 2025. Traditional interiors, especially in heritage properties in Britain, have long made use of grounding brown colour palettes. However, earthy, muddy brown tones are being used in more contemporary settings to offer warmth and comfort in the home.

Whether looking to create modern minimalism or a rustic chic look within the home, Truffle Brown can layer beautifully with soft hues and deep palettes. The colour works perfectly to evoke a sense of relaxing creativity.

Truffle Brown tends to pair well with natural materials such as wicker, warm woods, rattan and stone finishes. Colour-wise, it can also pair well with earth tones including sage, mustard and terra-cotta.
